Challenge
To create an experiential playground of international food markets in Hong Kong Times Square.
A luxury shopping center in Causeway Bay, HKTS is a cultural destination with 150,000 daily visitors.


Process
A collaboration between LeBasse Projects, an art and culture consulting firm, and Hong Kong Times Square, the playful experience invited visitors to leap across time zones (minus the jet lag!) to explore culinary customs.
Concepts included a Hong Kong wet market, French bakery, Caribbean fruit stand, Japanese sushi bar, Italian gelato cart, and a New York deli.
Solution
Since we were deep into the fabrication phase when Covid arrived, our team had to adjust and rescale. The final experience offered a charming respite, full of hope for our return to the magical discovery that travel affords us.
Featuring six interactive rooms, World Market transported guests around the globe to experience traditional eateries and emporiums, with more than 1,500 charming food characters recreated in plush.
